The next decade will be critical in Europe’s economic history. Across Europe we will need to rebuild confidence in financial markets and recreate millions of jobs that have been destroyed by the recession.

Over the past year, the Risk and Regulation Advisory Council has been leading an experimental offensive against the mishandling of risk in society. It looked at how distorted perceptions of risks can encourage poor policy-making and unnecessary laws, leading people to feel that Government is interfering too much in their lives.

The Hardship Fund is a £16.7 million grant programme. It will support third sectorⁱ organisations in England who are delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. 

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has been working with the Government Equalities Office (GEO), the Scottish Government, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and a range of other stakeholders and subject experts to develop a measurement framework that can be used to assess equality and human rights across a range of domains relevant to 21st century life.
