Commissioner visits North West project


On Thursday 20 October 2011 Commissioner László Andor the European Commission member with responsibility for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion visited Manchester to view the ''Back on Track'' project to witness how offenders on probation supervision are learning skills to get them back into work. This is the first visit of its kind by the Commission to a National Offender Management Service (NOMS) European Social Fund co-financed project.

Corporate Social Responsibility: a new definition, a new agenda for action


The new Communication on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) published by the Commission builds on the last one from 2006 and creates a new platform and impetus for CSR in the European Union. It aims to encourage companies to be involved even more in addressing employment and social issues within the Europe 2020 strategy, and is one means of securing an exit from the economic crisis.

What can Europe do for you? Unlocking effective EU resources


This event is being held at Europe House, Smith Square, London SW1P on 21 November 2011 from 13:30 to 17:00. This is a free event, organised by NCVO and Euclid, lunch is kindly provided by the European Commission between 1-2pm the event will give you an opportunity to learn about current European funds and future opportunities for the voluntary and community sector.

European Social Fund at work' e-zine Issue 24


The September/October edition of "European Social Fund at work" e-zine has now been published. The e-zine reports on the latest local and national news about ESFi, showcases the activities and achievements of successful projects and contains information on and links to a range of ESF and related initiatives.
