Enterprising Approaches in Tackling Disadvantage

Funding is available for projects that aim to develop a more enterprising approach to tackle disadvantage and projects that promote financial independence. The type of activities supported include helping voluntary and community groups develop a greater degree of sustainability, promoting social enterprises, developing new and innovative approaches in tackling financial exclusion and making financial and advice services within disadvantaged communities more integrated and accessible. Applications should address one of the following priorityi areas:
\

\
• Enterprising Communities - to enable people and organisations to be more enterprising and to develop new ways of tackling the needs of those at greatest disadvantage.
\
• Financial Independence - to support work which improves access to financial services for individuals, voluntary and community organisations and businesses which are unable to use traditional sources of finance.

From time to time The Foundation will initiate projects and programmes which respond to new ideas or emerging trends. These special initiatives may include work which promotes social cohesion, enables effective engagement by people in solving local problems or which identifies and presses for improvements in policy and practice. Details of the special initiatives will be published on the website and organisations are encouraged to contact the Foundation with their original ideas. Grants can be made for one year or longer: it is rare that organisations will be given support for more than three years in the first instance.
