Good Practice and Preparing for the Next Programme - July 2012

Over fifty Voluntary and Community sector organisations across the North West came together at an event organised by Network for Europe in conjunction with EUCLID and NCVO in Liverpool on 3 July 2012 to look at good practice from the current ESFi and ERDFi European Programmes and proposals for the next programming period (2014 - 2020).

Sue Baxter from BIS (the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills) who is leading the negotiations on the new programme spoke on the day and set the framework and updated organisations on where discussions are at the moment, how the programme is shaping up and looked at what could happen next.

James Ritchie from DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) did a presentation on the European Social Fund, the thematic objectives for the new programme and investment priorities. James set the challenges and delivery issues in the next programming period.

Julie Gibson spoke about the European Anti-Poverty Network and it's work and campaign for the 2014-2020 programme.

Councillor Neil Swannick the North West Member of the Committee of the Regions also spoke about the role of the Committee and its activities in preparation for the new Structural Fund programmes.
