The National Association for Voluntary and Community Action’s (NAVCA) Improving Local Partnership project has funding from the Workforce Development Hub to explore the emerging skills and personal development needs of staff (primarily chief officers) who are engaged in strategic partnership and representing the local sector in negotiation within the LSP and LAA framework. Linda Mitchell and Steve Skinner have been commissioned to explore these themes in greater detail. NAVCA will be developing a list of competencies, mapping out the provision of existing training or support in these areas and developing proposals, options and models for the provision of a future skills development and support programme. They will be contacting chief officers from a range of CVS’s across the country in order to get their views on the skills needed for strategic representation and the types of support that might be most helpful.
