Manchester is Awarded First Prize in Top International Competition

Manchester has been presented a first prize award for the outstanding Millennium Quarter. Manchester City Council’s Cultural Strategy Team entered the Millennium Quarter into the prestigious international competition, DIFA AWARD 2004, last October, which assesses ‘contributions for the revitalisation of Urban Quarters’. One of the newest and most innovative developments in Manchester, the Millennium Quarter is located to the north of the city centre. The 21st century steel and glass structures of Exchange Square house bars, restaurants, cafés and nightclubs. All form part of the £42 million Manchester Millennium Quarter, co-funded by the Millennium Commission, European Regional Development Fund and Department of Local Government, Transport and the Regions.
