Review of National Action Plans for Employment
The European Commission and the Council of Ministers, having reviewed each Member State’s national action plans for employment have concluded that the EU risks missing major employment related targets of the Lisbon agenda. The UK however fares well in the report, and exceeds all three Lisbon employment targets. Its overall employment rate is stable at 71.7%, its employment rate for women is 63.5% and its employment rate for older people 53.5%. The European Social Fund (ESFi) is identified as a key instrument in advancing the UK's strategy.
