Cumbria Learning and Skills Council Funding Gateway for Discretionary Funds 2004 - 2008 Round 9
Cumbria Learning and Skills Council has secured further funding through the European Social Fund (ESFi) in addition to funding through the Local Intervention and Development Fund (LID) and now wish to call for a further application round.

Under this call, applications must be received by noon on Friday 1 December 2006.

Details of the activities that LSCi Cumbria wish to fund this round are outlined below:

ITT Ref Title
To deliver projects in specific local areas for young people and/or adults, particularly those from disadvantaged target groups, to undertake a learning and skills programme to enable them to reach basic levels of employability
Training-the-trainer programmes to increase the number of skills for life tutors and/or those that work with people with a learning difficulty and/or disability;
Deliver a pilot pre-E2E programme to enable young people to progress to mainstream E2E
A programme that will use innovative or creative methods for engaging young people that are not in education employment or training, including those from targeted ethnic backgrounds, in learning activities to improve their personal, communication, key and basic skills
To link with local regeneration initiatives and economic strategies to help support unemployed and disadvantaged people back into work by providing sector-specific vocational training
A programme that includes a flexible package of interventions to assist adult workers in the Carlisle/West Cumbria area, who have recently been made redundant or who are threatened with redundancy
A programme of learning to raise the skill levels of targeted communities in rural locations across Cumbria
To raise the level of skills amongst public sector workers that have not achieved a level 2 qualification, by offering learning to help them achieve skills for life qualifications and improve their vocational/professional expertise
A Summer Learning and Skills Programme for young people aged 16-18
Provision of flexible training programmes to levels 3 and/or 4 to meet the needs of employers and employees – addressing skills needs identified through local economic analyses
